Welcome to the Website of the Fellowship of Christian Safety Professionals. The FCSP is a new fellowship that was organized to bring together like minded Christians who are responsible for workplace safety. Everything is new here, so check back often.

The founders of FCSP were inspired to create this organization as a result of the many Christian Safety Professionals we met while teaching safety courses all across the United States. One student summed up what we see the Lord often do: "To this day I think back on my class..... I learned of the true American spirit of giving and sharing personal moments. I saw a bond between everyone that you do not find in normal routine settings. I believe all of us were brought there to learn values that somehow we lost. "

This fellowship is intended to be a way in which Christian Safety Professionals can form a support system for each other. If you are involved in workplace safety and you are a Christian, we invite you to join us. Our plans are to develop an Email based newsletter and a bulletin board.

Our Statement of Belief follows:

  1. We believe in the One True God who is the Creator of all things, both spiritual and material, whom the Bible reveals as Jehovah.

  2. We believe in the Trinity of the Godhead: The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit who are three persons of one unified substance.

  3. We believe that God was incarnate in Jesus Christ. He was born of a virgin, crucified for the sins of the world, rose from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and now sits at the right hand of the Father.

  4. We believe in the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God and the revelation of Jesus Christ

Please share with us your ideas of how this new association can best serve you and check back often to see what's been added to our Website

If Christianity were a crime, would there be enough evidence to convict you?

A Call to Arms

Americans are anxious and afraid. 9/11 undermined our personal security. The effect on Americans is seen in many ways. The search for security is seen in the 500% increase in gun purchases, and the scramble for gas masks that quickly exhausted supplies. Companies offering home burglar alarm systems can't keep up with the volume of orders they're receiving. Thousands of formerly struggling self-defense and martial arts instructors are suddenly inundated with students. Attorneys report a sharp increase in the number of people writing wills.

3/4 of Americans report that they have felt depressed over the attacks and 1/3 are having sleep problems. Prescriptions for anti-depressants and sleep aids have sky-rocketed. Mental health professionals are overwhelmed with new clients and warn of serious long term effects on the psyche of our citizens. An epidemic of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome is expected. Before 9/11 the Pentagon had no full time psychiatrists, now they have almost 100 working full time. People are afraid and "on edge" which results in the very violence they fear. Reports of assaults and domestic violence have risen sharply.

Violence in the workplace was epidemic in America before 9/11. Each year 2,000,000 Americans report being assaulted in the workplace; nearly half a million of these are seriously injured; 51,000 are raped or otherwise sexually assaulted; 1,000 are murdered, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Law enforcement professionals tell us that for each assault that is reported there are several more that are not reported. Additionally, each day thousands of employees are harassed, intimidated, threatened and verbally abused. Workplace homicide was already the number one killer of women in the workplace and, depending on whose interpretation you prefer, number one, two, or three for men and women combined; this before 9/11. OSHA did little about workplace violence while placing great emphasis on lesser hazards. We, as safety professionals, failed in our responsibility to address the greater danger of workplace violence.

People who knew these statistics were afraid before. Now many are concerned for their safety and the safety of their loved ones. People are staying home, not just to avoid travel dangers, but because they feel most secure inside their own homes. Employee absenteeism has increased substantially. As employees fear layoffs from the damaged economy, their anxiety only increases. The terrorists' weapon is fear. Bombs, guns, and hijacked airplanes are merely the delivery system. We can help defeat the weapon employed against us by helping our employees regain their confidence in those in power around them. This can be achieved through knowledge. Fear is a feeling of "powerlessness", while knowledge is power. It is you're job is to impart knowledge. We, as Christian safety professionals, have a key role in fighting and winning our current war. We are on the front lines. We are in a unique position to negate the weapon of fear. Its time to take up your weapons and rise up against the weapon of fear. Do something today to reassure your employees that you are working diligently to ensure their safety. Determine their specific needs and meet them. Let the Son shine in!
