About Ron Ely

Ron Ely is many things but a website designer is not one of them. Therefore, I have the opportunity to explain who Ron is. His modesty would prevent him doing justice to himself.

Ron is in all ways a servant of the Living God. He serves in many capacities and upon every available opportunity. He is the first to say, "Here am I, Lord, Send me". This attitude of service has led to Ron's dedicated and ongoing service to a number of other ministries. Ron serves ministries in Cap Haitian, Haiti;  Accra, Ghana, West Africa; Weyers Cave, VA; Strasburg, VA; Currie, NC and Shelby, NC. Please check out the links to these ministries on the left side of this page.

Ron endeavors to secure financial support for these ministries and he acquires supplies and equipment for them. Ron travels to each of the ministries as often as possible to see the their needs first hand, to offer encouragement, to participate in the various ministries, and always, to teach God's Word.

Wherever he travels, Ron's talent for teaching is quickly recognized and he finds himself in the pulpit or the classroom. When he's not teaching he can't remain inactive so he seeks out whatever work is needed. While his purpose for traveling may have been teaching at a pastor's conference, in a church, or elsewhere, between teaching engagements he lends a hand wherever its needed. He's done construction work at Faith Christian University in Haiti, counseled school children in Ghana, and labored to load and unload supplies for shipment to overseas ministries

An interesting talent he contributes is many hours repairing typewriters for use by ministries. While typewriters are rather rare to many of us, they are a tremendous blessing to many ministries in underdeveloped regions of the world.

Ron's versatility is amazing. He's at home making a training presentation to a group, and with a shovel in his hands helping build a Bible College in Haiti, and he's equally at home sitting on the Board of Directors of "In Jesus' Name Ministries" and the "National Association of Safety Professionals."

Ron leads by example. I have had the pleasure of following him. He inspires through example and gentle exhortation while always pointing to the Lord as the one we are truly following. Every moment of every day Ron is mindful of his position as a servant of Jesus Christ. All that he is and all that he has, Ron has given over completely to our Lord.

I've often thought that for many people it is much easier to give of their money than of their time. But Ron gives completely of both. The hours that he spends in ministry those most of us spend in a full time job and a hobby or two.

One of his labor intensive ventures is to visit government auctions and purchase everything from computers to cars, to furniture, to medical equipment. He loads his purchases, usually by himself, takes them home and unloads and stores them. He later reloads them and ships them to the ministry that needs them or to "Equipping The Saints" to be distributed to ministries.

Ron is so effective in this endeavor that he keeps his 1200 square ft. of workshop area and two tractor trailers full of materials awaiting shipment. But that won't hold it all. An area as large as a major warehouse surrounding Ron's workshop is covered with materials and equipment awaiting shipment, most of it covered with tarps. Ron's friends call this area "Ron's World". But this material is not static. Its constantly flowing in, and going back out to those in need. Almost every piece of it loaded, unloaded, and if necessary, repaired by Ron.

We call his storage area "Ron's World" because its behind a privacy fence on several acres owned by Ron and his precious wife, Jackie. As is often the case, standing by a truly great man is an equally great woman. But Jackie does have some rules. Thus, the privacy fence. The picture at left is the beautiful yard of Ron and Jackie's home in the woods. But hidden behind the privacy fence, is Ron's World, where the beauty is not readily apparent. Discerning this beauty requires understanding the work being done there, the heart of the man who does it, and the Lord he serves.
